The Proposed Viewing Complex is a multifunctional building complex in Portsmouth, England; located along the East area of the Portsmouth city centre. Contained within the complex is Portsmouth School of Acting, part of Portsmouth College, Community food Kiosk, an outdoor cinema, an Indoor widescreen cinema, a rentable theatre auditorium owned by the University of Portsmouth, Retail stores, administrative spaces and a Café. The multi-functionality of the building is aimed at strengthening the relationship between the university and the city, this justifies the location of
the project as it extends beyond the jurisdiction of the current university campus and projects towards the city centre.
The outdoor area serves as an active space, increasing the level of interaction between commuters within that space. The active space within this landscape contains a boulevard which serves as the main element of activity and interconnectivity.
Functions within the internal part of the building purge into the boulevard, creating an indoor-outdoor feeling. Large open glazing is also employed in the project to give a visual relationship between the indoor and outdoor active spaces.
